The Academic Year

The academic year begins in August and ends in May. Holidays include Autumn Break in mid-October, Christmas Break week 52 and Winter Break week 9.

Admission Requirements and How to Apply

To apply complete the application and submit it to South Ostrobothnia Folk High School. The application deadline for full-time students is the end of July and for part-time students August. We will inform applicants by post of their admission. Students will be accepted for all programmes and courses from both the student population outside of the school and the student population already enrolled at South Ostrobothnia Folk High School.

Students will be admitted in order of applications received. The lowest number of students required for a course is 10. If less than 10 students enrol in a specific course, that course will not be taught in that year. For a few courses there is an upper limit for student enrolment, but generally, all students who enrol in courses do get accepted. The studies are conducted based on Open University principles and they do not have educational background or age restrictions nor entrance examinations.
